One poem (3,100 words) follows a 21-year-old P-47 Thunderbolt pilot from Fairfax, Oklahoma who flew 64 combat missions from RAF Duxford, disappeared over France on January 5, 1944, and has been listed Missing in Action for 81 years. The other (1,600 words) follows a 9-year-old Jewish girl from Dęblin, Poland who survived the occupation by becoming someone else entirely.
I’ve got a poem that’s a perfect match for this theme, but I don’t know if that’s something you would consider. It’s just over 1000 words, and it’s a narrative poem with lots of action and a compelling central character. It’s essentially a short story with meter and rhyme. Does that sound like something you’d be interested in, or is the form too outside the bounds of what you’re looking for?
Talk about synchronicity, I just had an idea for a story set during the Great War here in Romania, and this pops in my feed.

We’re open to being creative with the guidelines. We want to read it.
Two questions:
1. If the work I’m thinking of submitting has also been submitted for other contests, is that a deal-breaker for you guys?
2. The story is also a small piece of a larger project, but it works (and is published on this platform, currently) as a standalone.
Is that acceptable or would you need something new to consider the submission?
We will consider anything that hasn’t appeared in print before! Doesn’t bother us if it’s part of a larger work. If it works it works.
